Bonny Doon Le Cigare Blanc 2007

Based on white Chateauneuf, so this is an oaked Roussanne/Grenache blend. Fermented using wild indigenous yeast, this shows lovely delicacy combined with intensity. There is real creaminess in the mid-palate, with a tangy, edgy, almost salty minerality. Californian wines can be obvious and showy, but this has a very European reticence and elegance. Bonny Doon’s winemaker is Randal Grahm, a genuine visionary in the wine world.
