Gamay de Touraine 2008, Domaine de la Presle - France

Winery:

Lovely juicy acidity complements the red and strawberry fruit palate. There's a hint of green pistachio in the mix and this gives the wine a slightly firmer edge then a Beaujolais from the same grape. It finishes with a real zing that is even better when the wine is chilled.

Pulenta Estate Malbec 2007 - Argentina

Malbec, which, with its thick, extravagant berry flavours, can feel like wrapping yourself in a velvet hood and falling into an endless dark well, is also done very well in Argentina. Pulenta Estate Malbec La Flor 2005 from Mendoza, is beautifully perfumed and offers a lot for its price tag. This sort of wine makes me crave a melting beef fillet cooked with sweet jellies. Morgon 2007, Marcel Lapierre (biodynamic) - France

Fabulous, definitive Morgon. Seems expensive for Morgon, we know, but this falls into that category of wines where all one remembers is the wine, not the price one paid. This wine is exactly the reason us independent merchants still do well; Tesco could never sell this stuff in a million years. They just wouldn't have the class.
